New Haven and East Haven

Ruth Black, 90, of New Haven and East Haven passed away on Oct. 1 at Apple Rehab. She was born on Sept. 4, 1927, to Bertrand and Dorothy (Bohenkamp) Boyle.

Ruth is survived by her three loving children, Linda Letterman (Scott) of Newport Beach, California, Becky O’Neill (Larry) of Jackman, Maine, and Robert Black of East Haven; along with six grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by her siblings Bertrand Boyle (Joan) of Wallingford, Barbara Lawson (Tom) of Huntington, and William Boyle (Linda) of Hamden. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Roberta Knofler, and brother David Boyle.

Ruth was a retired employee of the Distribution Assoc. of North Haven, where she assisted the FBI in identifying bank robbers. Her spirit and strength were her trademarks. Ruth thought outside the box before the term became fashionable. A true friend and a loving mother, she will be missed.
