East Haven

Joseph C. Torello, Jr., 83, of East Haven, passed away on Sept. 15 at the West Haven VA Hospital after a brief illness. He was the beloved fiancé and soul mate of Rose Ann Infante. Joseph was born in New Haven on April 12, 1934, and was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Christine D’Amato Torello.

Joseph served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army. He also had his own music studio for 25 years, where he enjoyed teaching many students to play the guitar. He was an avid New York Yankees fan for his whole life. He also enjoyed watching the UConn women’s basketball team.

He is survived by his brother Pasquale (Marie) Torello and his sisters Marie (Andrew) Milano and Patricia (Andrew) DeCusati. He was predeceased by his brothers Patsy, Edward, and Andrew, and his sisters Rena Torello and Carmel Aiello. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews who brightened his life. Joseph will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the West Haven VA Hospital.

His funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Sept. 19. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Barnabas Church. Interment with full military honors followed in All Saints Cemetery. The visiting hours were Sept. 18.
