Clinton and Old Saybrook

Rosemarie Werner, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sept. 15 at The Gables in Guilford.

Rosemarie worked for 30 years as a tax examiner for the State of Connecticut. She was a longtime resident of Clinton before moving to Old Saybrook in 2004. Rosemarie loved anything pink. As a child she wore a pink hair ribbon and earned the name “Pinky.” She also had a love for music and dancing. When she was a resident at The Gables, Rosemarie was always present at any musical entertainment and she would boogie up and down the aisles. She was definitely small in size but mighty in her wit, with many stories and a great sense of humor.

She leaves behind her guardian and friend John Salldin and his wife Erlene. Rosemarie would always remind John how she had changed his diapers, and whenever John and Erlene left after a visit or ended a telephone conversation, she reminded them, “Now, don’t you two behave.”

We are ever grateful to Betty Ellal for her constant help, companionship, and care in the last years of Rosemarie’s life. During Rosemarie’s final months, we are grateful to the help of Jenny McCobb of JM Homecare and the Branford Hospice.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery, Sheffield Street, Old Saybrook. Memorial contributions may be made in Rosemarie’s name to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
