West Hartford and Old Saybrook

Howard L. Richardson, 91, of Old Saybrook, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 15. He was born and raised in West Hartford by his parents Herbert H. and Phyllis (Reynolds) Richardson.

Howard was predeceased by his brothers Herbert Jr., Alden, and Robert, and his sister Helen Bonander. He is survived by his wife Nadine (Merwin), and two sons, Carl and Paul, all of Old Saybrook; and his daughter Carla Frederickson of Danielson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Howard was a WWII veteran, serving in the Navy in the North Atlantic. He was employed as a quality engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 35 years, the last 13 years in Middletown on the JT9D project. He was an avid Boston Red Sox and Patriots fan. He enjoyed skiing, golf, boating, and running, and always maintained a large vegetable garden.

There will be a private family burial. Donations in Howard’s memory may be made to Middlesex Hospital Hospice Unit, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457. Howard’s family wishes to thank the nurses and aides for their caring help. Arrangements by Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook.
