Margaret C. Pfister

Margaret C. Pfister, 100, of Madison, and a longtime resident of White Plains, New York, beloved wife of the late Lewis M. Pfister, passed away peacefully on Aug. 19 at Essex Meadows Health Care. Born in Lockport, New York, on May 7, 1917, she was the daughter of the late New York State Sen. William W. and Mary E. Garner Campbell.

Margaret was a graduate of Vassar College class of 1938. She was an active member in The Woman’s Club of White Plains. She enjoyed following politics, current events, and was very knowledgeable about economics and finances. Margaret was the “family financial planner.” Most of all she loved being the mother of nine children and a devoted wife.

Survivors include her children Lewis Mark Pfister, Jr., (Joyce) of Toano, Virginia; William C. Pfister (Sally) of Mobile Alabama; August Andrew Pfister (Suzanne) of West Chester, Ohio; Peter L. Pfister (Jen) of Plainsboro, New Jersey; Mary G. Pfister (Cosmo Catalano) of Williamstown, Massachusetts; Margaret P. Carbajal (Noe) of Houston, Texas; Cecilia J. Pfister of Madison; Joseph A. Pfister (Rozanne) of Westford, Massachusetts; and Katherine Spence (Jerry) of Houston, Texas. She also leaves 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Rick Campbell; and 2 nieces, Patricia Richardson and Sandie Campbell. Margaret was predeceased by siblings William W. Campbell, Jr., Jane C. Blimm, and her great-great-granddaughter Reagan Elizabeth Werner Krause.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Aug. 23 at St. Margaret Church (which coincidentally would have been her 79th wedding anniversary to Lewis at this very church) 24 Academy St., Madison. Calling hours were held prior to Mass at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison, CT 06443. Burial will take place Aug. 24 at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, New York.
