Old Saybrook

Barry Thomas Fitzgerald, 91, passed away peacefully on July 20 at Gladeview Health Care Center in Old Saybrook with his wife of 69 years, Mary Grace (O’Malley) Fitzgerald, by his side. He was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, and was a resident of Madison for 34 years.

Barry was an avid golfer before and after retirement from McKesson Drug Company and had 13 holes in one. He was a WWII Navy veteran.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Thomas and Shelly from Texas, John and Barbara from Florida, Donna and Stephen from Massachusetts, Karen and Barry from California, and Mary and Stuart from Georgia; nine grandchildren, Timothy and Jennifer, Christopher and Kelly, Elizabeth and Michael, Colin and Sean, and Andrew; and four great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, and grandfather.

A Mass of Christian burial celebrating his life will be held at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 11 a.m., with Military Honors immediately following. Burial will be private.
