Westbrook

Mary Louise Talford Murphy, 70, wife of James F. Murphy, Sr., since 1964, of Westbrook, died Aug. 10 in New Haven after a long illness with family by her side. Marylu was born on Aug. 20, 1946, in Manchester, New Hampshire, to the late Henry Joseph Talford and Helena (Cullen) Talford.

She graduated St. Joseph High School, Manchester, New Hampshire, in 1964. She resided in several places in New Hampshire before settling in Westbrook. She was an office manager for Hasbrouck Associates and a store manager for Food Bag before retiring in 2014. Marylu was a registered EMT and a firefighter for the Nelson Fire Department.

In addition to her husband James, she is survived by her daughter Tricia (Murphy) Olson and her husband Timothy Olson; her son James F. Murphy, Jr., and his wife Rebecca Murphy; her grandchildren Jennifer Martin, Jessica (Martin) Abel, Alex Murphy, and Emily Murphy; and several great-grandchildren and cousins.

A Celebration of Life was held on Aug. 13 at Doc’s Bar and Grill, 350 E. Main St., Clinton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Shoreline Soup Kitchens at http://shorelinesoupkitchens.org/.
