New Haven

Antoinette “Annette” Carrano Marotti, 91, of New Haven passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23 at the Masonicare Hospital of Wallingford, after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick F. Marotti. Annette was born in New Haven on Oct. 3, 1925, to the late Vincenzo and Philomena Gambardella Carrano.

She worked for many years as a seamstress for the Elm City Shirt Company, Sero’s, and the Gant Shirt Company before retiring several years ago. She was a devout Catholic, loved her lord and daily Mass, and lived a true Christian life. She also loved her family, which was her number one priority, especially on Sundays (Pizza Night), when she would cook and entertain a house full of people. An occasional trip to the casinos was also something she looked forward to and enjoyed.

Annette leaves two beloved sons to cherish her memory, Fred (Mary-Ellen) Marotti of East Haven and Gerald (Donna Fatone) Marotti of Madison; two brothers, Paul and Andrew Carrano of East Haven; a sister, Vivian Russo of West Haven; and four grandchildren, Pamela, Michael (Jessica), and Andrew Marotti, and Anthony Acampora, Jr. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Alfonse Carrano; and two sisters, Mary Giannelli and Yolanda Griskewicz.

The entire Marotti family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the health care facilities, doctors, nurses, and caregivers for the compassionate and loving care that was given to their mother, grandmother, and sister. Mom/Grammie, you are now at rest and will be forever loved and missed.

Friends and family attended a Funeral Mass at St. Michael’s Church, 29 Wooster Pl., New Haven, July 29. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. There were no calling hours. The East Haven Memorial Longobardi—Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708, was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
