East Haven

Anna Bessie Rocco, formerly of East Haven, passed away peacefully at home on July 16 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in East Haven on April 2, 1923, to the late John and Josephine Arcucci Cacace.

She lived most of her life in East Haven, where she and her late husband Joseph Rocco raised their two children. For many years she enjoyed working at the DeliMart on Gerrish Avenue. She loved her family, the New York Yankees, cooking, shopping, and going to the casino to play video poker.

Anna is survived by her children Joseph Rocco (Kathleen) of Orange, and Maryanne Mancini (James) of Guilford; two brothers, Anthony Cacace and John (Corky) Cacace, both of East Haven; and her five granddaughters, Jaime Dietz (Robert) of Madison, Anna-Lynn Mancini of Southington, Sherie Scala (Louis) of Little Elm, Texas, Nicole Bennett (Jeffrey) of Orange, and Melissa Massaro (Richard) of Durham. She also leaves ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Agnes Hainer, Mary Marino, and Rose Cacace; and two brothers, Frank and Joseph Cacace.

Her family would like to extend its gratitude to all who have reached out during this difficult time. We would like to express our love and sincere appreciation to Sonia Scott-Greensword who lovingly cared for Anna during the last years of her life.

Her funeral procession left the East Haven Memorial Longobardi–Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708, July 21 for a Mass at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends called prior to Mass. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
