Branford

Francis “Frank” J. Pinto, 87, of Branford, died on Aug. 1 at the VA Medical Center of West Haven. He was the husband of Karin Nigl Pinto. He was born in New Haven on March 29, 1930, to the late Anthony and Margaret Jette Pinto.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving his country during the Korean War. For 45 years he worked for several area A&P supermarkets in many capacities, and retired as the store manager. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus and served as the Grand Knight for the San Salvador Council #1. He was also a past member and president of the Anchor Club and was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts. He had many passions, including the UConn lady Huskies, as well as traveling around the world. He especially enjoyed visiting the many national parks in our great country.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Frank Pinto, Jr., of Branford, Anthony “Tony” (Ruth) Pinto of Guilford, and Richard (Pam) Pinto of Wallingford; a daughter, Annmarie (George) Sherman of West Haven; a stepson, Steven (Janet) Tybus of Acworth, New Hampshire; a stepdaughter, Barbara (Joe) Tucciarone of New Milford; a brother, Anthony (June) Pinto of North Haven; and a sister, Nora Morgillo of East Haven. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Michael (Jordanna) Pinto, Bryan Pinto, Amanda Pinto, Erin (Doug) Sherman—Turcotte, Erica Sherman, Caitlin Pinto and Allison Pinto, Andrew (Hannah) Tybus, Michelle Tybus, Samantha (Dan) Torrano, and AJ Tucciarone. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis Pizzuti Pinto.

Frank’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the wonderful care that was given to him by the doctors and staff at both the VA Medical Center of West Haven and the Montowese Health and Rehabilitation Center of North Haven.

The funeral left the East Haven Memorial Longobardi—Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708, Aug. 5 for a Funeral Mass in St. George Church, Guilford. Burial services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends and family called Aug. 4.
