Leon A. Barauskas, 80, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on Aug. 1 at the St. Raphael campus/Yale-New Haven with his daughter by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Hanchette Barauskas. Leon was born in Derby on March 26, 1937, and was the son of the late Alphonse and Anna Mulewicz Barauskas.

He served his country faithfully in the US Air Force. Leon worked for security at the former New Haven Coliseum for many years; later he was an X-ray technician for Yale-New Haven Hospital until his retirement. He was an avid bowler.

He was the father of Lesley Paquin and the late Sandra Manley. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Lawrence Paquin.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Aug. 5 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Church, New Haven, at 10:30 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
