Louis C. Ornato, Jr., 68, of East Haven passed away July 29 in the West Haven Veterans Medical Center. He was the son of the late Louis C. and Emily Cimino Ornato.

He was the father of Louis Ornato of East Haven; and the beloved brother of Nicky Ornato and Anthony (Genevieve) Ornato, all of Northford, Roseann Perito of Branford, and Marian (David) Kramer of North Haven. He was the companion of Bernadette Calandro of East Haven. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Lou was co-owner along with his brother of the former Lou’s Lodge in the Fair Haven section of New Haven for 40 years. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his valor.

His funeral procession left the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, on Aug. 2. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church.
