Horst Schwarzer, 78, of East Haven passed away June 17 in the Montowese Health & Rehab Center. He was the husband of the late Shirley E. Hunt Schwarzer.

He was the father of Ramona, Ralph, Alex, and Tina Schwarzer, Lisa Della Camera, Jody-Sue West, Michael Wood, Sam Barbiero, and the late Gabriella Schwarzer Soleva, Joseph Barbiero, and Ronald and Crystal Wood. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Prior to his retirement Horst was a roofer for several roofing companies in the New Haven area for many years.

Relatives and friends were invited to a Mass of Christian burial June 21 in Our Lady of Pompeii Church. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery. There were no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Montowese Health & Rehab Center, 163 Quinnipiac Ave., North Haven, CT 06473. Arrangements are in the care of the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd.
