East Haven

Randy Erich, 68, of East Haven, passed away on June 1 at home. He was born on June 5, 1948, in New Haven, son of the late Burt “Buddy” and Lois (Johnson) Erich. Randy is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Bonnie (McNulty) Erich and two daughters, Lindsay Martus (Paul) of Wallingford and Jennifer (Erich) Cardella of Port Charlotte, Florida. He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Rosalia Cardella, Angelo Cardella, and Brianna Molster, along with his sisters Pam Johnson (Steve) of Florida and Suzie McMullan of New York, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy had a passion for music; he was a gifted guitar player and singer. He enjoyed being with his family and friends and with his quick wit and easy disposition, he always had everyone laughing and smiling. Randy was a member of the Mansfield Grove Campers Association and enjoyed spending summers at the Erich family cottage.

Randy was an alumnus of the Hopkins School in New Haven; he graduated in 1966. Randy also attended Southern Connecticut State University. Not only was Randy a talented swimmer, but he was also a member of the 1964 undefeated Hopkins football team.

Randy was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War Era, where he served as an air traffic controller for the US Air Force. After serving in the US Air Force, he was hired by the Connecticut Motor Club, where he continued to work for 43 years. Randy will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and co-workers
