Carmel L. Crisantemi, 99, formerly a longtime resident of Bella Vista, New Haven, passed away peacefully May 21 at Guilford House Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Anthony Crisantemi. Carmel was born in Hamden on Aug. 1, 1917, daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Palmeri Ursini.

Before retiring Mrs. Crisantemi worked as a nurse’s aide at the Hospital of St. Raphael. She enjoyed sewing and knitting in her free time.

She was the mother of Rose Marie Renda and her husband Saverio of New Mexico; and the sister of Louis Ursini, Sr., and his wife Fanny of Madison, and Norma Jacques of Hamden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Rita Digliani, Annette Belbusti, and Dolores Mornico; and two brothers, Lawrence and Jack Ursini.
