John Sherwood Miller, Jr., 66, died tragically on Feb. 28 in Westbrook.

John grew up in East Granby and Old Saybrook. After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of LCpl and serving two years active duty and four years in the Reserves. He attended colleges in New Orleans and Boston, and Manchester Community College, where he became a disciple of the Macintosh and anything Apple. His mastery and success in technology was a bright period in his life. His love of reading and computers resulted in many hours in the shoreline libraries.

John was predeceased by his parents K. Virginia (Cody) Miller of Essex and John S. Sherwood of Old Lyme, and his brother Peter C. Aucoin of Manchester. Survivors include Judy Aucoin of Manchester, Jessica Aucoin Squatrito and husband Sandro of South Windsor, and Benjamin Aucoin of Willington. He also leaves Taylor Aucoin, and Serafina, Aurelia, and Gaia Squatrito.

Services with military honors for John will be held Saturday, May 13 at noon at Middletown State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. Monarch Cremation Funeral Services and the Patriot Guard Riders are accommodating John’s farewell.
