Essex

Doris S. “Dot” Larson, age 102, passed away on April 21 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Dot was the beloved wife of Everett N. Larson, who predeceased her on April 29, 1971. She was born in Old Saybrook on Oct. 30, 1914, the daughter of George Drew and Jennie May (Spooner) Stevenson.

Dot was raised in Old Saybrook and was a resident of Essex for more than 40 years; she was also a winter resident of North Fort Myers, Florida, for many years. She was an avid gardener and card player, and loved to do crossword puzzles, as well as having a great passion for crafting. Dot was an active member of craft clubs in both the Lower River Valley and in Florida. She will be most remembered for tremendous sewing skills and talents. Dot had a gift of creating clothes of any kind and made many of her own and for many of her family members.

She leaves her sister Louise Goldreich of Old Saybrook, many nieces and nephews, and a very close friend, Dola Lewis of Norwich. Dot was predeceased by her four brothers, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews.

A family graveside service was held in the Riverside Cemetery in Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Dot’s name to Middlesex Hospital Hospice, 28 Crescent St., Middletown, CT 06457. Arrangements were in the care of the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook.
