Branford, Cromwell, and Concord, NC

Michael Joseph Torello, formerly of Branford, passed away peacefully on April 22 in Concord, North Carolina. Mike was born in New Haven on April 26, 1940, and lived in Branford until 1973.

Through family and friends he stayed connected in Branford for his lifetime. He attended local schools, graduated from Branford High School in 1958, and earned an associate’s degree from Quinnipiac College. He was a veteran of the US Army. He had a successful career as a manufacturing supervisor in the aerospace and wire/cable industries.

Mike was the son of Viola Sansone and Anthony Torello. Ralph Biondello was an important part of his life as a parenting, loving stepfather. Mike married Jeanne Lefebvre in 1964, sharing his life for 52 years. They moved to Cromwell, where they lived until retiring to Concord, North Carolina, in 2008.

Family was the center of Mike’s life, starting with his daughter Mary Mandeville (wife of John Mandeville) of Cromwell, and Patricia Balboni (widow of Richard Balboni) of Manchester. They gave him the pride of his life, his seven grandchildren, Meygan, Amanda, and Jack Mandeville, and Stephanie, Kristen, Rachael, and Andrew Balboni.

Mike leaves his wife, children, and grandchildren with many happy family memories. He also leaves his brother Patrick Biondello of Branford; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 13, 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford, with burial following in St. Agnes Cemetery. Donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
