Joan M. Ahern, 79, passed away peacefully on April 22 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. The daughter of the late Hazel (Baisley) Ahern and John J. Ahern, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth (Bette) Ahern and her brother George Ahern, both of Branford. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia.

Joan was an office manager for Mutual of Omaha for more than 40 years. She was a life-long member of St. Mary Church in Branford, where she was very active in the Ladies’ Guild. She was also the secretary for the Friends of the Blackstone Memorial Library in Branford.

Friends visited April 25 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford. A Mass of Christian burial was held on April 26 at St. Mary Church in Branford.
