Branford

Richard L. “Dick” Jackson of Branford passed away peacefully March 18 at his home. He was born in Branford May 3, 1928, and was a lifelong resident of Branford.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marguerite McNulty Jackson; his children Diane (Jonathan) Coburn, Richard (Anne) Jackson, Donald (Carolyn) Jackson, and Douglas (Jennie) Jackson; his grandchildren Colin and Cashlyn Coburn, and Alexandra Rose; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Clara, Roy, Walter, and Charles.

Dick was a US Navy veteran. He was an avid sports fan and was a proud inductee in the Branford Sports Hall of Fame. He was known for telling stories of growing up on the shoreline, and he enjoyed fishing and playing baseball. As a young man Dick was a supernumerary policeman with the Branford Police Department, and was a member of the Indian Neck Volunteer Fire Company. He retired from the state of Connecticut as a general foreman when he was 50 years old.

Friends may call March 24 at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 N. Main St., Branford, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., and are invited to a Mass of Christian burial at St. Therese Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery.
