Chester

Grace M. (Cervini) Pettinato, age 95, of Chester passed away March 16 at Aaron Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Chester. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor J. Pettinato, Sr. Grace was born in Bronx, New York, in 1921, the daughter of the late Joseph Louis and Virginia (Casella) Cervini.

Grace and Victor settled in Chester in 1951, building their home and raising their children in the community. Grace worked as a waitress at the Griswold Inn in Essex. She was later employed at the former Verplex Company, also in Essex, and retired from the L.C. Doane Company in Centerbrook. Grace was an avid New York Yankees and Lady Huskies basketball fan. She loved to travel and will be remembered by her family as one who loved to spend time with family and her many friends. Her talent as an excellent cook was cherished by her family and the tradition of creating her treasured Christmas ravioli will continue with her grandchildren. Grace was a communicant at Saint Joseph’s Church in Chester.

Besides her husband Victor, she was predeceased by her son Victor J. Pettinato, Jr.; her daughter Carolyn P. Gordon; her sisters Marie Parrett, Virginia Euell, Dorothy Cervini, and Theresa Serrilli; and her brother John Cervini. She leaves her sister Madeline Colleary of Schroon Lake, New York; her son-in-law Yale J. Gordon, Sr., of Killingworth; her daughter-in-law Deborah Pettinato Armentano of Old Lyme and Stuart, Florida; and her beloved grandchildren Yale Gordon, Jr., and his wife Alisa of Killingworth, Mark Gordon and his wife Kelly of Narragansett, Rhode Island, Suzanne Sosnowski and her husband Matt of Haddam, Brian Pettinato and his wife Erin of East Kingston, New Hampshire, and Erin Botelho and her husband Brian of Cromwell. She also leaves her 15 beloved great-grandchildren, Zack, Haley, Michelle, Sophia, Emma, Jack, Maya, Leah, Ben, Gracelin, Emily, Alexandra, Mitchell, Mason, and Ethan.

Visitation will be held on March 23 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St. in Centerbrook. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Ave. in Chester. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Grace’s name may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 48 Middlesex Ave., Chester, CT 06412.
