East Haven

Nicholas F. Capone, 88, of East Haven died on Feb. 6 at the St. Raphael Campus of YNHH. He was the beloved husband for 49 years to the late Eleanora Jason Capone. He was born in New Haven on July 31, 1928, to the late Frank and Mary Serra Capone.

Nick was a member of the Class of ‘47 of St. Mary’s Academy, New Haven. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force. For 34 years he worked in both the North Haven and East Hartford plants of Pratt and Whitney as a fabricator, until retiring in 1989. He served on a variety of boards and committees within the town of East Haven, as well as on the St. Mary’s Class of ‘47 Alumni Committee and in the Knights of Columbus, Father Regan Council #3300.

Nick will be remembered by his three children, Karen “Kacy” Rybak, Nick (Donna) Capone, Jr., all of East Haven, and Lori Bellows of Missouri; a sister, Betty Conroy of East Haven; six grandchildren, Tiffany Houseman, Matthew Rybak, Kara Malley, Shannon Rybak, Kala Capone, and Nick Capone III; two great-grandchildren, Austin Ford and Abel Houseman; several nieces and nephews, especially Cathy, Laura, and Janie; as well as his two groups of dear lunch buddies, Larry, Eddie, and Red, and Walt and Bob. He was predeceased by a brother, Pasquale Capone, and four sisters, Jane DeFilippi, Margaret Proto, Catherine DelVecchio, and Marie Midola.

Nick’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to US Renal Care of North Haven for the wonderful care and friendship they provided.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 10 at the East Haven Memorial Longobardi-Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. Friends called Feb. 9 as well as prior to the services on Feb. 10.
