Branford

Sylvia Anne Bergeson Marsh passed peacefully at Hospice in Branford on March 14 at the age of 81. Sylvia was born on Oct. 4, 1935, and grew up in Portland.

She married Karl (Bucky) Whitney Marsh in 1958. They settled in Branford in 1966, and spent the rest of their lives in their Branford Point home, raising their children and as longtime members of the Tabor Lutheran Church community. Sylvia was educated at Connecticut College and received her master’s degree in sacred music from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. She was the organist and choir director at Tabor for many years. Sylvia’s life revolved around her family and her love of music, the arts, good food, and nature. She will be remembered for her warm smile, her great cooking, her many musical contributions to Tabor, and the joy she took in being with her family.

Sylvia is predeceased by her husband Bucky. She is survived by her children Amy (Alan) Revere of San Francisco, California; Elizabeth (Robert) Coolidge of Branford; and Philip Marsh of Guilford; and four grandchildren, McLean Macionis of Los Angeles, California; Whitney Macionis of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and Grace and Eve Coolidge of Branford.
