Guilford

Thomas M. Friscoe, Jr., 90, of Guilford died on Feb. 15 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of the late Ida “Toni” Obert Friscoe. He was born in New Haven on Dec. 18, 1926, to the late Thomas M. and Ellen McCarthy Friscoe, Sr.

Tom graduated from East Haven High School and received his bachelor’s in engineering from UConn, Class of 1950. During his college years, he proudly served his country in the US Army. He became the building inspector for the Town of East Haven and worked for a family business, C&C Construction. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Father Regan Council #3300. He moved to California and opened his own real estate company, Friscoe Realty. He spent 55 years there and was involved in many groups, especially the Elks Lodge #613 of Santa Barbara, California, where he held many key positions, including grand exhalted ruler, and was a member of the drum corps.

He is survived by three daughters, Virginia “Ginny” (Andrew) Muro of New Haven, Dorothea “Dorrie” (Paul) Kyprianides of Branford, and Laura (Joseph) DiVerniero of East Haven; and seven grandchildren, Christina Sudac (Jonathan Donadio), Andrew Muro, Jr., Matthew Kyprianides, and Michael, Nicholas, Alex, and Gina DiVerniero. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Thomas and Joseph Donadio and Andrew Muro, III, as well as his first wife Matilda Canna Friscoe. He was predeceased by a sister, Eleanor Leeds.

Funeral services were held Feb. 21 at the East Haven Memorial Longobardi-Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708. Friends called prior to the services.
