Branford

Alasdair James MacAuslan, “Sandy,” of Branford died suddenly March 12 at his home.

Sandy was a kind and gentle soul who often had to fight his demons with the help of family and BHCare. Sandy would give you what you asked for if he could provide it. He was the best shopper for gifts, taking much time and thought and coming up with ideas that we all continue to use years later!! He was generosity personified.

Sandy thought of others and made sure birthday gifts and cards were given on the correct day, and Christmas for him was a blizzard of buying, wrapping, and giving. Sandy loved animals and would often sign off from phone conversations with “love to you and cats and dogs.” Sandy also loved the sea and boats. He was fascinated by naval vessels and collected a large group of illustrated books on the subject.

Sandy is survived by his sister Catriona MacAuslan, her husband Donald H Fisher, who lovingly acted as his brother and friend, and predeceased by his mother Margaret Guy MacAuslan and father Alistair Thompson MacAuslan.

Sandy spent many years at Harbor House under the care and watchful eye of their dedicated staff, who did everything possible to make his life contented and happy.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. To remember Sandy and his kind soul, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to BHCare, 127 Washington Ave., 3rd floor West, North Haven, CT 06473, or online at www.bhcare.org and go to their Donate page.
