Madison

Frank Rubino of Madison died peacefully after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s on Feb. 20 at The Hearth at Tuxis Pond in Madison. He was the youngest son of Mary and Joseph Rubino and was born Jan. 19, 1931, and raised in Torrington.

He served in the US Army as a corporal stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1956, and was awarded The National Defense Service Medal. He attended Quinnipiac College, where he earned his accounting degree. After graduating, he began his 30-year career working for the Olin Corporation as a comptroller. After retirement he spent many days golfing at The Madison Country Club, his home away from home. He served on the board of directors, and was chairman of the House and Tournament Committees. Being an avid golfer, he had three holes-in-one at the club, traveled with friends to play golf in Ireland and Nantucket, and attended the Masters numerous times. He and his wife Peg spent many years playing bridge, and enjoyed vacationing in Aruba every year, as well as traditions like Fourth of July picnics at the Surf Club in Madison and holidays with the family.

He is survived by his beloved children Lynn Lindahl (Chuck) and Jay Rubino (Sheila); his grandchildren Justin, Cassi, Dylan, Caitlyn, Matthew, and Lindsay; and great-grandson Logan. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Rubino. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Peg, and his brother Bernard Rubino.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 18 at St. Margaret’s Church in Madison at 10:00 a.m., with a continued celebration to be held at the Madison Country Club.
