Lucia (Lucy) Del Vecchio Basile, 100, of Branford, died on Jan. 7 after a brief illness. She was born in Bridgeport and worked as a seamstress for the Robby Len Co.

Lucia was predeceased by Carmine, her loving husband of 61 years; her parents; and two brothers. She is survived by her daughters Michelina Fazzino (Joseph) and Gabriella Zwack (Leonard); her grandchildren Dr. Leonard Zwack (Lisa), Anthony Fazzino, Christopher Zwack, and Maria F. Sadowski (Alexander); her great-grandchildren Noah and Annika Zwack; two younger brothers, Attilio and Carlo Del Vecchio (Maria); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucia was active in many organizations, including the Daughters of Isabella and the Branford Italian American Club, Ladies Auxiliary.

At her request, there will be no calling hours, but a Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Mary Church, Branford, on Feb. 24 at 10:00 a.m. with burial at St. Agnes Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Italian American Club, 40 Hamre Lane, Branford, CT 06405, or to “Feed Branford Kids” at Branford Food Pantry, 30 Harrison Ave., Branford, CT 06405 .
