Raffaele Savinelli, 83, of East Haven passed away peacefully on Feb. 10 at the Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, surrounded by his family. He was born April 29, 1933, in Santa Maria a Vico, Italy, to Francesco and Rosa (Perrotta) Savinelli.

Raffaele is survived by his two loving children, Frank Savinelli of Branford and Rose (Savinelli) Kronberg of New Haven; and one grandson, Raffaele Savinelli. He is also survived by his dear friend and companion, Olga Buono; and his five sisters, Rita Savinelli of Italy, Caterina Savinelli of Italy, Carmelina Savinelli of Italy, Alessandra DeMarchi of Chicago, and Maria DeRosa of New York. Raffaele is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Fortunata (Vigliotti) Savinelli; son Alphonse Savinelli; and siblings Francesca Savinelli, Giovannina Savinelli, and Rosa Lifonti.

Raffaele was a member of the Annex Club in New Haven and a bocce ball enthusiast. Prior to his retirement, Raffaele owned and operated Savinelli Painting for more than 40 years.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, and again on Feb. 15 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. His funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Feb. 15 at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven, with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
