Guilford

Ruth L. (Etter) Heidtman, longtime resident of Guilford, passed away peacefully Feb. 4 at St. Raphael Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to Charles Art Heidtman. Ruth was born in New Haven on Oct. 28, 1927, daughter of the late Harry Ernest Etter and Ethel Isabel Crook Etter.

She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Wilson and her husband Bob of Milford, and Dana McNary and her husband Doug of Guilford. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Matt Wilson, Andrea Wilson, Derek Perkins, and Cori Zuppardi and her husband Tony; and two great-grandchildren, Dyson Perkins and Charlotte Zuppardi.

Before retiring Ruth worked as a secretary at the Guilford High School for more than 25 years. Ruth enjoyed attending craft shows, where she and Art sold his hand-carved wooden shore birds. In her free time she was an avid reader and an accomplished seamstress and knitter.

Visitation will be held on Feb. 18 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St., Guilford. Following the visitation will be a celebration of Ruth’s life at the Guilford Funeral Home at 11 a.m. The burial ceremony will take place in Alder Brook Cemetery, Boston St., Guilford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Guilford Free Library, 67 Park St., Guilford, CT 06437.
