Guilford

Grace Adams, 85, wife of the late William Adams, passed away at home Jan. 29 after a long illness. Born July 3, 1931, in Waterbury, she was the daughter of the late Mario Cappella and Mary Mocciolo.

Grace attended Sacred Heart High School and the University of Washington, where she majored in business administration. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a comptroller for the George Ellis Company and the Don Wall Corporation. Throughout her life she was passionate about a wide array of hobbies, including dancing, creative writing, interior decorating, and painting. As her health deteriorated in the past two years, she found solace and joy in her weekly visits with her great-grandson Camden.

She was the mother of Toni Page (Peter) of Guilford; William Adams (Lena) of Wallingford; and Michael Adams of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Cappella of Delray, Florida; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by brothers Nicholas, Paul, and Lucian Cappella; and a sister, Diane Smith.

Her family is eternally grateful to the circle of professionals and friends who cared for her with compassion over the many years that she was ill, especially her caretaker Gladys, VNA nurse, Patty, Dr. Glass, and Lisa, and wonderful friends Lori, Bob, Diane, and Joe.

Burial will be private and a memorial celebration for friends and family will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to NECLA for the Grace and Bill Adams Scholarship Fund, 12 View Place, Guilford, CT 06437, or to the Guilford Volunteer Fire Department, 390 Church St., Guilford, CT 06437.
