Westbrook

Virginia B. Zotti, 88, of Westbrook died on Jan. 27. She was born on Oct. 26, 1928, in Hartford to Richard and Julia (Hartl) Bickel.

The family resided in East Hartford. She was married to Richard Zotti on April 30, 1947, in Hartford, and enjoyed nearly 70 years of marriage. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Zotti waited on customers in her husband’s shop Zotti Shoe Service in Hartford on Main Street opposite the Travelers Insurance Building. She then worked as an underwriter at The Hartford Insurance Group. She and her husband have been active members of St. Mary’s of the Visitation Catholic Church and Westbrook Seniors. She played Mrs. Santa Claus and volunteered at other town programs.

Mrs. Zotti is survived by her loving husband Richard. They have two children, Richard, Jr., and his wife Bonnie (Smolenski) and daughter Farren; and Zottie Marie and her husband Steve Childrey. She also leaves five grandchildren, Nicholas Zotti, Richard L. Zotti III, Anthony Zotti, Paul Childrey and his wife Alison, and their two children Jacob and Wesley, and Julia Anna Childrey. She has two sisters, Julia (Steiner) Douville and Mary (Steiner) Ulrich.

A Celebration Mass for the life of Virginia was held on Jan. 31 in St. Mary Church of Visitation, 54 Grove St., Clinton. Interment was held privately in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Swan Funeral Home, Clinton, was in charge of the arrangements.
