Guilford and Branford

Martin Edward “Marty” Davis of Branford, formerly of Guilford, passed away on Jan. 24 at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. He was born Nov. 10, 1956, in New Haven, son of the late William E. Davis, Sr., and Dorothy Lemley Davis.

He was father to his beloved son Robert O. Davis; and uncle of William Earl Davis III of Guilford, Adam Davis of Westbrook, Joseph Wolfer of Clinton, Jonathan Wolfer of Clinton, Jennifer Wolfer of Clinton, and many other cousins. He was predeceased by his brother William E. Davis, Jr., and two sisters, Susanne Wolfer and Sandra Knapp.

For many years after his service in the Air Force from ’75 to ’79, Marty was known as a “jack of all trades.” He worked for Guilford Rental for number of years, and eventually switched to carpentry, which became his trade up until the very end. Marty was always active in the community in his own way for the sixty years he spent as a part of Guilford, as well as part many of our lives.

Friends and family are invited to the memorial services, a celebration of Marty’s life, which are to be held at the VFW in Guilford on Feb. 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
