Eugene Frederick Handy, Sr., 77, of North Branford passed away on Dec. 31 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Valerie (White) Handy for the past 54 years. Eugene was born in New Haven on Aug. 24, 1939, to the late Frederick Eugene and Mary Elizabeth (Taylor) Handy.

Eugene grew up in Branford and later settled in North Branford with his loving wife Valerie, where he remained for the past 52 years. Eugene was employed for more than ten years by M&M Fuel Oil in Woodbridge as an account executive, retiring in 2014. Eugene will forever be remembered for his unwavering love and devotion to his family and friends.

Besides his wife Valerie he is survived by his daughter Lisa (Handy) Seker and her husband Selim; son Eugene Handy, Jr., and his wife Pauline; and son Daniel Handy and his wife Christine. Eugene is also survived by seven grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “RaRa.”

Friends and family may visit Keenan Funeral Home, 330 Notch Hill Rd., North Branford, on Jan. 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will follow immediately at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
