East Haven

Lucy Gallicchio, 91, of East Haven passed away Nov. 28 at Connecticut Hospice. She was born May 28, 1925, in New Haven to Aniellio and Mary (DeSorbo) Romano.

Lucy is survived by three loving children, Gerald Gallicchio (Patricia) of Wallingford, Joanne Reilly (Dennis) of North Branford, and Sandra Enders (Michael) of East Haven; along with four grandchildren, Kelly DiGioia (Michael), Kimberly Reilly, DJ Reilly, and Adam Enders. Lucy is also survived by great-grandchild Halle DiGioia; two step-grandchildren, Robert Enders and Rebecca Jones (David); and a sister, Antoinette Gallicchio of East Haven. Lucy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 42 years, Gerald Gallicchio; four brothers; and three sisters.

She worked at the New Haven Clock Company for 8 years earlier in life, spent 18 years at Nationwide Insurance while raising a family, and after the death of her husband, spent 11 years at Ames Dept. Stores. As a devout Catholic, Lucy was a member of Our Lady of Pompeii Parish for 42 years and St. Clare Parish for the past 17 years, and was a member of both ladies guilds. She was a crotchet enthusiast and often involved herself in community efforts to donate afghans and lap throws for fundraising and those ill or in need.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Her funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Dec. 2 at 9:40 a.m. for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven, with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
