Branford

Joseph James “JJ” Miller of Branford died Aug. 30 in Branford, a tragic end to a young life. JJ was a loving person who leaves behind many people devastated by his untimely passing. JJ was born in New Haven on June 4, 1988, son of Alice Jacob Miller of Branford and Michael Miller of Ocala, Florida.

He is also survived by his maternal grandmother Lois Jacob of Branford; sisters Megen (Chris) Sampson and Maren Miller; his brother Justin (Alicia) Miller; stepmother Beth Miller; stepbrother Matthew Myers; nieces and nephews Claire, Finn, and Wolf; the love of his life Jordan Astorino-Moore and his best friend Mat Everson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his maternal grandfather George Jacob; great-grandmother Alice Paradise; and paternal grandparents Joseph and Jeanette Miller.

JJ loved living near the water, boating, and history. He was working as a personal trainer and studied at Gateway Community College. He was skilled in carpentry and had been looking forward to moving to Florida to work with his father. He was a joy to many and will be sadly missed.

A funeral service was held Sept. 6 in the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, preceded by visitation. For an online memorial, please visit www.wsclancy.com.
