Guilford

Suzanne Werblow, 73, of Guilford passed peacefully at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven on Jan. 14.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jack; son Andrew; and brother Jerry Kessler. She is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Adeline Kessler, and son David Daniel Werblow.

A graveside funeral service was held on Jan. 17 at Beth Alom Cemetery, New Britain. Rabbi Yossi Yaffe, Chabad of the Shoreline, conducted the private service. Following the funeral the traditional period of morning (shiva) was observed by family and friends.

Following her graduation from Plainville High School in 1960, Suzanne went on to earn her B.S. from UCONN (1964), her M.S. from Harvard University (1965), and her Ed.D. from the University of Bridgeport (1994). Psychology, educational testing and measurements, and educational management were her fields of study and expertise. Suzanne’s employment included MIT statistical admissions analyst; retention counselor and adjunct professor, University of New Haven; and education consultant, Surrogate Parent Program for Special Needs Children, Connecticut Department of Education. First and foremost she wanted to be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, family member, and true friend to anyone who would seek out her compassionate advice.

Memorial contributions may be sent to either Temple Beth Tikvah, c/o Werblow Memorial Award and Scholarship Fund, 196 Durham Rd., Madison, CT 06443, or Chabad of the Shoreline, 800 Village Walk #327, Guilford, CT 06437.

An inspiring Memorial event to honor Suzanne Werblow will be held during the spring or summer. May her memory be a blessing.
