Kathryn Van Utt, 85, Old Saybrook


Kathryn Van Utt passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 27. Kathy was born in Lansing, Michigan on Oct. 4, 1930 to D. Maxwell and Helen Seeley. She had one sister, Joan Metcalf.

Kathy was a long time resident of Old Saybrook where she was an active member of the community. She was a retired teacher of the Old Saybrook Middle School where she touched the lives of countless families. Kathy was a treasured mother and a friend to so many.

She is survived by her children Tom Behnfield (Debbie), Douglas Behnfield (Martha), Sue Donovan (Neal), Mary Ottersen (Bob), Patsy Van Utt, and Gretchen Van Utt (George). She was the loving grandmother of seven grandchildren, Wally, Charlie, Emma, and Maxwell Behnfield; Nell Thomas; Nora Astley; and Margaret Ottersen; and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Damon (Big-D) Van Utt.
