George K. Russo, 68, of North Haven, beloved husband of Mary Gambardella Russo, passed away on July 2 after a courageous battle with cancer with his family by his side in the Masonicare Health Center. George was born in New Haven on April 30, 1947, son of the late George W. and Rosalie Esposito Russo.

Prior to his retirement George was a service representative for the former SNET Company. George was also the first male CNA for Connecticut Hospice and an Army veteran. The family would like to give a special thank you to Laura Konareski.

He was the loving father of Theresa-Ann (William) Longobardi of Wallingford and the late Michael G. Russo. He was the cherished grandfather of Michael and Shyler Longobardi; and the brother of Rosemary and Lucille Russo, both of North Haven.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated July 6 in St. Anthony’s Church. Interment with military honors followed in East Lawn Cemetery. The Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven, was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to ACES in memory of Michael G. Russo, 31 Temple St., North Haven, CT 06473.
