North Haven

William H. “Bill” Obier, 75, a resident of North Haven since 1951, passed away peacefully on June 2 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Mary Jane C. Rowe Obier. Bill was born in New Haven on Aug. 18, 1939, son of the late John and Helen Donahue Obier.

He served his country faithfully in the US Army in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was a manager for Partyka Chevrolet, Hamden, having worked from 1965 until leaving due to illness in February of this year. Bill enjoyed traveling, especially cruising with his family, and was an automobile enthusiast and a NASCAR fan.

He was the father of Susan Obier-Pfeiffer and her husband Kevin; the grandfather of Gillian G. Pfeiffer; the brother of Ronald F. Obier and his wife Bernice, and the late John E. Obier, Jr; and the brother-in-law of Richard R. Rowe, Ercole Iarusso and his wife Ida Mae, and Ellen Obier. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

His funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., June 6 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in St. Barnabas Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow in the In Memoriam Cemetery, Wallingford.
