Norman Eric Roemhild

Kissimmee, Florida

Norman Eric Roemhild of Kissimmee, Florida, the son of W. Kurt Roemhild of Deep River, died unexpectedly on Sept. 29 en route to his home following a long visit with his father and family members. He was 49.

Mr. Roemhild was born on June 6, 1965, in California, also the son of Irene Gruhle Collins of St. Augustine, Florida. He grew up with his father in Encinitas, California, where he became a skilled surfer. He left California for Florida in the mid-1980s, where he worked in several jobs as a contract shop painter for Disney World, a woodworker, a carpenter, a cabinetmaker, and a finisher.

He married Julie Ann Roemhild on Dec. 1, 1993. They lived in Kissimmee, where they raised two daughters. At the time of his death, he had just spent a month renovating and finishing a boat while visiting his father in Connecticut. He had a natural understanding of animals (especially dogs) and for his whole life loved surfing, fishing, and the outdoors, especially the beach.

Besides his wife, father, and mother, Mr. Roemhild leaves two daughters, Mariah Paige Roemhild of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Kyla Bailey Roemhild of Kissimmee; his stepmother Joanna Perry Roemhild and half-sister Hannah Roemhild, also of Deep River; and his half-brother Andrew Roemhild of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Osceola Memory Gardens and Funeral Home of Kissimmee, Florida, handled arrangements. A celebration of his life took place Oct. 4 in Cocoa Beach, Florida, one of his favorite places in the world.
