10/02/2014 12:00 AMSophie Wilczynski Oboyski, 100, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sept. 29 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Oboyski. Sophie was born in New Haven on April 26, 1914, daughter of the late Waclow and Magdalena Pietrus Wilczynski.
She worked for the former Federal Paperboard and later as an executive secretary for Simkins Industries until her retirement. She was a member of the Polish Falcons, New Haven, where she taught gymnastics, and she enjoyed bingo and duck pin bowling.
She was the mother of Frank X. Oboyski and his wife Doreen Larson-Oboyski, and the late Carol Ann Oboyski. She was predeceased by her siblings Vera Bialobrceski, Loretta Boguski, Helen Zarnowski, and Viola Wilczynski. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Her funeral procession left the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., Oct. 2 at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Therese Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment followed in All Saints Cemetery.
