Vincent 'Vinny' Landisio, Sr.

Vincent “Vinny” Landisio, Sr., 81, of New Haven, died peacefully at his home on Sept. 12, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marie LaMonaca Landisio for 58 years. Vinny was born in New Haven on Aug. 29, 1933, a son of the late Carmine and Julia Caprio Landisio, and was a lifelong New Haven resident.

He was an inspector for the former FCD Corp. of Hamden for twenty years, retiring in 1994, and had worked for the Washington Memorial Funeral Home of North Haven for the past 12 years. Vinny was a member of the American Legion Post #88 of Hamden and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Carmel Council #3605 of Hamden.

In addition to his wife, Vinny is survived by two daughters, Julia (Dennis) Torello of Cheshire and Rose (Eugene) Mergner of North Haven; a son, Fire Chief Vincent (Leigh Ann) Landisio, Jr., No.H.F.D., of North Haven; a sister, Carol (Michael) Anastasio of North Haven; two brothers, Carmine (Marian) Landisio of Cheshire and Alexander (Vera) Landisio of Hamden; a sister-in-law, Carmel Landisio of Orange; and nine grandchildren, Michael (Eileen) Torello, Maria and Alicia Torello, Daniel, Paul, and Gina Mergner, Anna-Lynn (Matthew) Monroe, Vincent (Erin) Landisio, III, and Marissa McVety. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony Landisio.

There were no calling hours. Relatives and friends were invited to join Vinny’s family for a Mass of Christian burial, which was celebrated on Sept. 16 in St. Joseph Church, 129 Edwards St., New Haven. Burial followed in Centerville Cemetery, Hamden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Vinny’s name may be sent to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
