Barry M. Langlan, 71, Branford


Barry M. Langlan, 71, of Branford, died in New Haven on Aug. 28. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Daniels Langlan. Mr. Langlan was born on Dec.6 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts, son of the late Robert A. Langlan and Lois Stengel Somerville. He earned his BA and MBA degrees from Northeastern University and was employed for many years in the oil industry as an office worker and was also a self-employed accountant. Mr. Langlan was a faithful member of Christ and The Epiphany Episcopal Church in East Haven where he was a former treasurer and vestry member. In addition, he was a longtime baseball umpire and member of the GNHBUA. He enjoyed fishing, UCONN Women's Basketball, and all Boston sports.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his much-loved children, Sandy Chappuis and her husband Bob of East Haven, Steve Langlan and his wife Kirstina of Northford, and Diane Wortz and her husband Keith of Cheshire. He was the cherished grandfather of Morgan and Matthew Chappuis, Steven, Kyle, Jessica, and Charlie Langlan, and Shawna, Kristian, Cecilia and Maggie Wortz. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Langlan and his wife Ruth of Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his grandson, Christian Chappuis.

His funeral procession left the Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven, on Sept. 1 for a funeral service at Christ and The Epiphany Church. Burial was private.
