Bonnie C. Scahill, 71, Guilford


Bonnie Cordes Scahill, 71, of Guilford, loving wife of Frank J. Scahill, Sr., and beloved mother of five children, died on May 3 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Bonnie was born on March 6, 1941 in Laurel Springs, New Jersey, daughter of the late Anna and Julius Cordes. She attended Montclair State College and Rutgers University, where she majored in French. She also modeled for Breck Hair Products and was a runway model.

Bonnie had worked for Trans World Airlines as a flight attendant and supervisor of TWA's International Flight Attendant Training. She met Frank, a TWA pilot, in New York City when he gave her roommate a ride home from JFK. Bonnie and Frank were reacquainted at a manager's meeting in Kansas City, and they fell in love. On May 20th of this year they would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.

After living in the Midwest, Bonnie and Frank moved to New Fairfield, Connecticut, where they lived for 31 years. She later worked as a software production manager for Bristol Technology. Besides her husband, Bonnie is survived by her five children, Frank, Jr., Mary Guarino and husband Matthew, and Catherine, Melissa, and Jacqueline, as well as her sister, Joan Ickler. Bonnie was predeceased by a younger brother, William Cordes.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford, on Thursday, May 10, at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA, 02241-7005 (
