Duane D. Thompson, 70, Guilford


Duane D. Thompson, 70, of North Fair St., Guilford, died peacefully at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford on April 29.  He was born in New Haven, son of the late Whitney J. and Mildred Norton Thompson. Duane had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also a former police officer in Guilford and had worked for J.J. Sullivan for many years.  He was the descendant of 13 of the founding fathers of Guilford, including Thomas Norton and Henry Whitfield.

Duane is survived by two brothers, Whitney J. Thompson, Jr. and Donald N. Thompson, and a sister, Doreen Capezzone, all of Guilford.  He is also survived by his long time companion, Carol More; his beloved grandchildren, Katlyn and Remi Ardito and Isabella and Nicholas Zira, all of Guilford;  his goddaughter, Hayden Abbey Holt of North Branford; and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean Tomlinson and Catherine Bennett.
