02/02/2012 11:00 PMPatricia Barbara Marshall, of Madison, formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, died Feb. 1 after a long illness. She was the wife of Lynn Marshall, now residing in Stamford. Mrs. Marshall received her college degree from Catholic University and her nurse practitioner degree from the University of Virginia. She worked for the Public Health Department of Washington D.C., and after that, spent three years as a nurse at Virika Hospital, a mission hospital in Uganda, East Africa.
She married Lynn Marshall, an attorney in White Plains, of Chappaqua, New York. She then returned to Africa, working as a nurse in Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone for the U.S. State Department for 15 years. In Ghana, she worked under Ambassador Shirley Temple Black. Upon returning to the States, she was hired by Fordham University to head its Student Health Office.
Upon retiring and moving to Madison, Mrs. Marshall was an avid bridge player and a member of the Garden Club.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, John Marshall of Fall River, Massachusetts; daughter Anne of Weston, Connecticut; son David of Scarsdale, New York; son Christopher of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter Katherine of Darien; and 10 loving grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, Feb. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Swan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Post Rd., Madison. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m., at St. Margaret Church, Academy St., Madison. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Madison.
