01/06/2011 11:00 PMSally Katherine Bechtel, 70, died at her home in Clinton on Dec. 22. Daughter of the late Helen and Edward Sage, she was born in New Rochelle, New York, and attended Green Mountain College in Vermont. Later on, she became an RN and worked as a head nurse at Connecticut Valley Hospital in Middletown. She retired from nursing in Fort Meyers, Florida.
For the past six years, Sally had lived at her mother’s beach cottage in Clinton, where she enjoyed gardening and watching football. She was a long time friend of Bill, and the friends she gained from that organization became like family to her. Sally had a huge heart and gave inspiration and unconditional love to her children. Her sense of humor, love, and endearing capacity to be a friend to all will live in the hearts of her family and friends forever. She will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son, Fredric Bechtel, who is currently serving in the United Sates Navy in Kuwait, and his wife Lisa and their daughter Samatha. She is also survived by her daughter, Tiffany Gilroy, and her children, Tierney and Ryan. She was predeceased by her sister Karen and her beloved daughter Tamatha.
