Nancy Joan Stasiunas, 58, Guilford, formerly of Waterbury


Nancy Joan Stasiunas, 58, of Guilford, formerly of Waterbury, died on Nov. 6, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Waterbury on Nov. 20, 1951, daughter of Joseph F. and Jean (Quilter) Stasiunas of Clinton. Nancy graduated from both Southern Connecticut State and Central Connecticut State Universities with degrees in elementary education. Her passion was teaching children, and she had been the reading consultant at Pomperaug Elementary School in Southbury for more than 35 years. A loving daughter, sister, and friend, her greatest joy was being “Nanni” to her niece and nephews, leaving them with such beautiful memories.

Besides her loving parents, she is survived by her devoted sister, Jodie Smith and her husband Thomas of Clinton; her beloved niece, Kelsie Smith; and her cherished nephews, Brendan and Timothy Smith. She is also survived by two aunts, Joan M. Quilter of Waterbury and Ann Kasinskas of Cheshire, and numerous treasured cousins and close friends.

Her family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, at the Swan Funeral Home, 80 E. Main St., Clinton. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at St. George Catholic Church, 33 Whitfield St., Guilford. Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice, or to the Nancy J.
