Josephine ‘Joanne’ Perona (DiNorscia) George
Josephine “Joanne” Perona (DiNorscia) George, 93, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Sept. 15 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the wife of the late Thomas George.
Joanne was born in New Haven on Jan. 16, 1928, the daughter of the late Angelo and Mary Camarota Perona. She had worked for the former Bradlees Department Stores for many years until her retirement. Joanne was a very active member of the North Haven Senior Center, where she enjoyed doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed making wine and sewing and was an avid reader, but most of all, Grammie took much joy in babysitting her great-grandson Maxwell, alongside her own son Rick. Watching Maxwell grow this past year was a blessing and they loved to play together.
She was the mother of Rick DiNorscia and his wife Claire and Grammie of Lauren Lukacovic, her husband Brian, and their son Maxwell Dante Lukacovic. She was predeceased by her first husband Joseph DiNorscia; a brother, James Perona; and sisters Connie Riccio and Ann Camarota.
The visiting hours were Sept. 20 at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home. Her funeral procession left the funeral home Sept. 21 for a graveside service in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. For her online obituary, please visit www.northhavenfuneral.com.
