Thomas W. Walker, 49, of Ivoryton died unexpectedly on Nov. 17 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.
Born Dec. 11, 1970, he was the only son of JoAnn (Wasley) Walker of Ivoryton and the late Dennis Walker, who predeceased him this past July.
Raised in Essex, “Tommy,” as he was known to his family and friends, attended The Williams School in New London and earned his B.A in psychology from Skidmore College in upstate New York and his teaching certification from Central Connecticut State University. Following in his family’s traditions, he had a lifelong passion for sailing, attending Pettipaug as a child, and eventually fulfilling his dream of self-employment as a boat caretaker at various local marinas. His proudest role was being a father to his son and best buddy, Chase, with whom he shared an affinity for trains, video games, and most recently, roller coasters.
In addition to his mother JoAnn and his son Chase, he leaves his uncles A.J. Wasley and his wife Toni and Alan Wasley and his wife Nancy, and shares many cherished childhood memories with his cousins that he grew up alongside. He also leaves Chase’s mother, Sarah (Suhoza) Walker and her family.
In lieu of flowers, Tommy may be remembered with contributions to Dog Star Rescue, P.O. Box 721, Canton, CT 06019 or at www.dogstarrescue.org
